Little Habits of Joy
I've been creating new habits for myself lately that bring a smile to my face. Ones that remind me of how incredible life is, and keep me rooted in gratitude. Habits such as climbing up on the roof of our RV to enjoy the sunsets and the stars here in Arizona.
Every time I do it, the older neighboring folks who are sitting outside with their cocktails and beach chairs yell over and ask me how the view is, and we banter back and forth.
For me, creating these habits are my small acts of rebellion that are crucial in a world where seeing the News can rip the joy out of your day...if you let it.
Don't let it,
If you woke up today, healthy, warm, fed, clothed, and alive...you have things to be grateful for. Find something you can do to celebrate that because gratitude is like an energetic shield that can keep you from being dragged down by external input.
Tonight, I will climb up the ladder to watch the sunset as a reminder to not take for granted my free will and my physical strength to do so. I will lay back and look up at the stars and remember that nothing lasts forever, and then breathe in the moment as it is and revel in it.
Tell me in the comments below about a choice you made today that you are grateful for having had the opportunity to make, or perhaps one you will commit to making this weekend.
